Here are some symptoms based on those three. If you find that many of these symptoms mirror your own you might want to have an ADHD Test and try to get an adult Attention Deficit Disorder diagnosis.

Below are some typical symptoms of ADD and/or ADHD. There are more than just the listed symptoms, this list is not extensive nor complete. This list will you give you an overview of the typical ADHD - ADD symptoms.

  • People with ADHD - ADD have trouble keeping still. When seated their leg is bounching up and down, their hands are tapping on a table, they're dancing in their seats or otherwise squirming around.

  • People with ADHD usually have trouble staying in their seats. Whether students or adults - people with this disorder are often found out of their seats and active, moving around. It does not mean they are disobedient - they are just acting out the disorder.

  • Waiting turn for something holds no appeal. Meaning, standing in line at a bank or for lunch at school takes a real effort of will to accomplish - and often times the person with ADD - ADHD just can't wait. They may cut in line or come back later when there is no line.

  • Implied sense of urgency in speed to getting things done. There is an internal drive to complete things quickly - whether that is because the attention can only be focused in spurts and long-term tasks are not withing the time limit - or not. Realize that all of these behaviors occur in children without ADHD or ADD. The diagnosis is made when symptoms are profound and regularly occurring... the word "often" is used repeatedly when using diagnostic criteria for ADD - ADHD behavior.

To sum it up...

There are many behaviors that all add up to the diagnosis of ADHD - ADD. One or two symptoms does not make a diagnosis, nor do all of them for brief instances. The key word appears to be "often" in terms of these behaviors exhibited over time.
